Sometimes we think achieving lasting weight loss isn’t in the cards for us. We start with all the enthusiasm and motivation in the world, and then get discouraged when we feel the soreness from our first workout. What can you do to make sure you’re successful?
It is imperative that you have clearly identified goals for your weight loss plan. Is there an occasion you want to drop the pounds for? Are you simply overweight and need to get into better shape? Are you interested in becoming generally healthier, or is slimming down a medical necessity? These are the types of things that you need to really think about.
Set a goal to keep track of your progress every week. You should weigh yourself each week and keep a daily food diary. Keeping a daily journal of the foods and beverages you ingest helps you to see what what seems to be working and what doesn’t, allowing you to make informed choices about your diet.
Try not to allow yourself to become famished. At this first sign of a hunger pang, you are putting your diet in danger. Decide what you are going to eat ahead of time, and take snacks with you to eat when temptation strikes. Bring your lunch with you whenever you get the chance. Not only will you save money by doing this, you will also remove the temptation of unhealthy foods by not having the need to purchase food on the go.
To be successful in your weight-loss plan, you need to eat right and exercise regularly. You can ensure you will get enough exercise by carving out time for at least a few workout sessions per week. If it is hard for you to incorporate exercise into your daily life, you can still see benefits from doing activities that you enjoy. Dance, walk, play a game, or go for a bike ride with the kids. Whatever you choose, it will get you moving in the direction of great health!
Keeping junk food away makes it easier to avoid eating it. You could hide your junk food, but you would probably be better of not buying it at all. Surrounding yourself with healthier food will encourage you to eat more of it.
Identify a workout buddy you can always call on to exercise with you. You are more likely to blow off what you need to do if you workout by yourself. Having someone to exercise with will give you the motivation you need to continue on. You can help keep each other motivated to lose weight.
